Join the GMP for our festive annual Harpers Ferry holiday hike. Expect a short, scenic, 2-3 hour hike of moderate difficulty. Most of the afternoon will be available for exploring the town, shopping, and taking in history. Harpers Ferry celebrates Christmas 1860's style.

NO POST HIKE RESTAURANT THIS YEAR. INSTEAD, Bring a warm or cold drink in a thermos along with a tasty snack to enjoy where we can spread out on one of the overlooks.

GMP: Hike to Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary, Saturday, March 28, 9:30am

Join the GMP for a scenic six mile hike at Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary ( in Anne Arundel County, just 40 minutes from DC. This approximately three hour hike takes us along the Patuxent River, through woods, marshes, and an abandoned rail line.

The hike is easy to moderate, with some small hills. Option: after the hike we can have lunch at Ella Ray's Café in Forestville.

Celebrate Nature at the Suitland Bog with a Naturalist's Guided Tour (Tuesday, June 18)

Enjoy a lunchtime interpretive tour of the Suitland Bog with a Naturalist. The Suitland Bog is a wetland site known for its rare plant life. A variety of carnivorous plants, as well as rare and threatened plants, thrive at Suitland Bog.

GMP: Sky Meadows State Park

Join us in a scenic seven mile hike at Sky Meadows State Park, about 1 hour 15 minutes west of DC. This approximately four hour hike is strenuous in parts, with a total elevation gain of about 1,400. After climbing to the ridge we will make a long loop with the current and old Appalachian trails.
