Join the GMP for our festive annual Harpers Ferry holiday hike. Expect a short, scenic, 2-3 hour hike of moderate difficulty. Most of the afternoon will be available for exploring the town, shopping, and taking in history. A possible optional post-hike Holiday snack and drink location will be determined. Hikers meet at the train station at 10:00 a.m. ****NOTE: WORK IS UNDERWAY IN HF TO FIX THE FIRE DAMAGE. THE TRAIN STATION PARKING MAY BE CLOSED. If IT IS CLOSED< YOU WILL NEED TO PARK AT THE CAVALIER HEIGHTS VISITOR CENTER PARKING (171 Shoreline Drive, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425) AND TAKE THE SHUTTLE OR WALK TO THE TRAIN STATION. VISITOR CTR SHUTTLE OPERATES 9 – 5. ****

CARPOOLS/RIDES: We are sorry but we are not able to arrange carpools or rides.

BRING: One quart of water per hiker, hiking boots or shoes with traction, warm gloves, warm socks, scarf, rain poncho (if rain). Bring your camera! Great views!

Directions to the train station located in the lower town, historic section of Harpers Ferry:

From Washington DC: Once on the beltway, take I-495 to I-270 N. Follow I-270 to Frederick, MD and take exit for Rt. 340 S toward Harpers Ferry. At the Harpers Ferry stoplight, turn left. Distance: approximately 66 miles. *Allow 2 hours for travel from Washington DC (1.5 hours driving and .5 hours to park, wait gor, and take the shuttle to the historic part of town)

To get to the train station, take the shuttle to the historic part of town.
