Old Rag, a rocky mountain in the middle of Shenandoah National Park, has the 360-degree panoramas near the summit.

*** This hike is STRENUOUS. The first 2-miles are steady uphill hiking. The next mile or so requires scrambling over boulders and is exposed. The net gain from the parking lot is approximately 2,500 feet. The entire loop is 9 miles and takes about 7 to 8 hours.

At 8am, we will meet at Panera Bread in Warrenton, VA. We will park some of our cars at the shopping center, and to save some park entrance/parking fee ($20 or $30 per car), we will carpool as much as possible to the Old Rag parking lot.

If you have a National Park pass, please let me know. I have one.

We will meet at Panera Bread in Warrenton, VA because there will be no cell signal once we head out to the west of Warrenton, VA. It is easier to coordinate from Warrenton. Moreover, you could have your breakfast while you wait for others.
